Diabetes Awareness Month

November is a time for reflection, a time to look at years past and look to the future of a new year.

This November, think of The Canadian Diabetes Association: a group of volunteers, employees, healthcare professionals, researchers, partners and supporters. It was established in 1953 to raise the profile of diabetes, improve the lives of those living with the disease, provide information to those at risk, and accelerate the search for a cure.

Diabetes is a condition in which the body cannot properly use and store food for energy, leading to an imbalance in blood glucose. It can be controlled through diet, exercise and medication, but there is still no cure at the moment. Nine million Canadians are living with diabetes or prediabetes right now.

  1. Thanks, Bridgehead, for this great blog post!

Diabetes Awareness Month ends in a few days. With the help of Bridgehead and other community-minded organizations, we continue to help people manage their diabetes while we work to find a cure.

November is a call to action and we hope your readers and customers will consider making a donation to the Canadian Diabetes Association before the end of 2010 – time to take advantage of the tax receipts for 2010! Celebrate the Holidays by Giving Back!

For more information on making a personal donation, contact Mark at mark.bowman@diabetes.ca or 613-688-5928.
